Ink Bleed: Beautiful Nigerian Cassette Sleeve

I went to my local market last week and came across a Nigerian food shop with a bargain bin full of £1 cassette tapes. I bought one because I instantly fell in love with it’s sleeve, which was printed at Pootson Graphic Arts Trade Ltd, though googling this company brings up no results. It looks like a lithograph job although there is a very bitmappy monochrome photograph at the heart of the design – which looks like an LP sleeve that has been shrunk down to fit the cassette format. I scanned it at an incredibly high resolution and found some lovely overbleeds and words which haven’t printed properly… Listened to the tape today – it’s really decent folk music – but the recording is pretty ropey… I’m definately going to have another rummage through their bargain bin though…
